Feedback Needed on Proposed 2018-2019 School Calendar

Red Oak ISD welcomes your input on the proposed calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. With the 2018-2019 school year, TEA has changed some of the requirements on waivers districts previously used for staff development and early release days so the proposed draft has some slight differences from the 2017-2018 school year.

The proposed calendar features:

  • The first day of school on Monday, August 20.
  • Two full weeks off at the Winter Break.
  • This calendar allows the district to “bank” minutes which would then be used in case the need would arise for school to be closed for inclement weather; therefore, the calendar no longer requires designated “Bad Weather Days”.
  • The school year would end for students prior to the Memorial Day holiday, which is May 27.

The comments will be reviewed and a recommendation will be proposed to the School Board at the February 26, 2018, meeting.

Thank you for your response to this matter.
