I graduated from South Grand Prairie High School, and received my bachelor of science degree from the university of Texas Arlington.

Experience

I have been working at Eastridge since 2001 beginning as reading support for kindergarten.  I began teaching Language Science in 2002, all at Eastridge.  In the summer of 2014, I was asked to move to Red Oak Intermediate.  I was so excited at the opportunity of being on a new campus!!  Although nothing would replace how much I will always love Eastridge (♥!), it was a fabulous time at ROI as well.  The staff was just as passionate about their kids and the subjects they taught, and the kids?  Well, the kids were bigger, but it was still like it was at Eastridge...hands, feet and objects to yourself!  I had no idea when they moved me that I would be part of the last group of teachers to be on the Intermediate campus.  How grateful I am to have had that experience!

Two weeks before the beginning of the school year 2015, I got the call that I was being moved back to Eastridge, and I've been here since.  I was amazed at the changes that were done to the campus, such as a new lunchroom, Mrs. Pitts new locations, and a new lounge for the teachers.  I was gone just a year and my goodness what a difference a year makes!

Regardless of where I am, I am always grateful for the district for which I work, and what I am privileged to get to do every day, and that is working with your children.

As always, if you have any questions regarding your children, feel free to email me (karen.bizzell@redoakisd.org).

Blessings.

Bio

I am a third generation Texan, having been born and raised in Dallas County for all of my life till I moved out to Red Oak.  I've been married for nearly 35 years to an absolutely wonderful guy named Mike.  We have a daughter, Sarah, who has graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University (axe 'em jacks!) with a degree in elementary education, and is now teaching first grade at Northwest ISD.  My husband and I are empty nesters, but truth be told, it's not too bad!  Even tho we have no children at home, we are still blessed with our two cats, Rascal and Scamp, to round out the Bizzell household.

When not at school, I enjoy reading (always with a fresh cup of hot coffee!), traveling with my husband, and learning new songs on the guitar.
